Greta Mckinney

 

Greta McKinney is the second to youngest child of the late Frederick and Reola Moore. After graduating from Concordia Lutheran High School she went on to receives degrees from: IVY Tech; Certificate in Mental Health Technology, Indiana University-Purdue University earning both Associate and Bachelor’s degrees in Human Services as well as her Master’s in Education. While working on her Master’s of Education Degree she received her certification as a Suicide Prevent/Intervention Trainer and is responsible for initiating the African American Suicide Prevention initiative the spring of 2010. Currently she is a consultant with Indiana Cares Youth suicide Prevention Project researching Hispanic and African Americans youth ages 12-18, perceptions about suicide in their cultures. Besides her consultant work at IPFW she is also a Limited Term Lecture in the College of Health and Human Service, an Adjunct Instructor at Huntington University College of Christian Counseling, and has a small counseling practice at RAJ clinic in Fort Wayne. Greta is the mother of four sons: Terry II, Terrance I, Terrell, and Tyrone, and five grand children: Terry III, Terrance II, Teagan, Talyiah, and Tiana. Despite Greta’s responsibilities and commitment to academia she duplicates that same commitment and responsibility to her church. Greta is a life time member of Turner Chapel AME church and serves as Superintendent of Church School, First President of the Amanda Moten Missionary Society and Senior Usher board. Greta also finds time to give back to her community; sitting on and holding office for several not-for profit boards: Negro Business & Professional Women Club, (RSVP) Retired Senior Volunteer board, IPFW Alumni Board, and the College of Health and Human Service Advisory Board. Greta’s Professional affiliations include: American Association of Marriage and Family Therapist, Omicron Psi Honor Society, and Qualified Mental Retardation Professionals and IPFW recognized and honored Greta on December 2010 by giving her a Distinguished Alumni Award.
