Claryce v. Burris has over 35
years of counseling experience; she attained a bachelor's of social work (bsw)
degree in 1976 from ball state university and masters of social work (msw) in
1977 from iu school of social work. Her career past includes the following:
started at "your house", a residential youth addictions/mental
health treatment center/home; outreach social worker/counselor/therapist at
family service association; pre-school social worker at crossroads
rehabilitation center; psychicatric social worker to admissions' director to
psychiatric supervisor to director of social services at central state
hospital; adolescent and adult outpatient therapist at koala hospital;
addictions/mental health treatment counselor/therapist/trainer/consultant at
volunteers of america of indiana (voain); currently works as an independent
contractor/therapist/trainer/consultant at raj clinics p.s.c.
Her specialty counseling areas are as follows: stress & time management,
post traumatic stress disorder, all chronic mental illnesses in the dsm iv
statistic manual (schizophrenia, bipolar d/o, personality disorders, adjustment
disorder, depression, attention deficit/ hyperactivity d/o and attention defict
d/o, etc.) And all addiction diagnoses in dsm iv statistical manual;
trauma/grief/loss counseling, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral
therapy (cbt), thinking for a change (a specific cbt method), marital
reconcilication/restoration, divorce counseling, self-care as a lifestyle and
spiritual growth/maturity. She has been approved as a military one souce/value
options therapist and works with all ages and stages of life.
She is an indiana licensed clinical social worker (lcsw), a licensed clinical
addiction's counselor ii (lcac ii), a certified alcohol/drug addiction's
counselor iv (cadac iv) with the indiana couselor's association on alcohol/drug
abuse (icaada); a national certified addiction's counselor ii (ncac ii) via the
national association on alcohol/drug abuse counseling (naadac); member of the
following organizations: a) national association of christians in social work
(nacsw); b) delta sigma theta sorority inc. (dst), c) national association of
advancement of colored people (naacp), d) writer's center of indiana
She is married to cornell burris and among them they have 5 adult children, 6
grandchildren, & 1 great-grandchild. Her hobbies and interests include:
reading, writing/performing own poetry, sewing, jazz & gospel music,
teaching/training in church and in the community, serves as chair of prayer
ministry at her church, watching movies, traveling, and spending quality time
with her husband and family.
